Description

2 lb. Density Expandable Polyurethane Flotation Foam is a professional two-component pour-in-place foam designed for marine flotation, insulation, soundproofing, and nonstructural void filling. Part A and Part B are mixed in equal parts by volume and poured into the desired area, where the mixture expands and cures into a lightweight, rigid foam with a nominal density of 2 lbs. per cubic foot.

The foam is approximately 95–98% closed cell, providing excellent resistance to water absorption and making it particularly useful for marine applications. It can be poured underneath boat decks, inside hull cavities, and into other enclosed spaces where lightweight flotation material is needed to provide additional buoyancy.

The approximate flotation range is 100–120 lbs. per quart and 480–600 lbs. per gallon. This flotation foam has been tested in accordance with U.S. Coast Guard Regulation 33 CFR 183.114, making it well suited for boat-building and marine flotation applications.

In addition to flotation, the expanding polyurethane foam can be used to soundproof, insulate, and fill nonstructural voids. As the liquid mixture expands, it conforms to irregular cavities and hard-to-reach areas, making it useful for new boat construction, restoration, repair, docks, pontoons, and general marine fabrication.

Although the foam’s high closed-cell content helps resist water absorption, it is important to note that continuous water submersion can eventually result in a loss of buoyancy over a period of years. The foam is recommended for nonstructural applications and should not be used as a substitute for structural core or reinforcement materials.

Available Kit Sizes

1/2 Gallon Kit – 5 lb. Kit: Includes 1 quart of Part A and 1 quart of Part B. When properly mixed and expanded, the kit produces approximately 2 cubic feet of foam.

2 Gallon Kit – 20 lb. Kit: Includes 1 gallon of Part A and 1 gallon of Part B. When properly mixed and expanded, the kit produces approximately 10 cubic feet of foam.

Important: Expansion and final yield can be affected by material temperature, ambient temperature, mixing technique, and application conditions. Mix the two components thoroughly and pour immediately according to the product instructions.
