Divinycell® H-80 PVC Foam Core – 5 lb. Density Plain Sheet is a high-performance structural core material engineered for fiberglass and composite sandwich construction. Its closed-cell PVC construction provides an excellent strength-to-weight ratio, allowing builders and fabricators to increase panel stiffness and structural performance without the weight associated with a solid laminate.
H-80 is commonly referred to as a 5 lb. density foam core and provides increased strength and rigidity compared with lower-density grades such as H-60. It is particularly well suited for structures exposed to fatigue, impact, and repeated slamming loads, making it an excellent choice for demanding marine and transportation applications. DIAB specifically highlights H80 for applications requiring high strength-to-weight performance and resistance to repeated impact and slamming.
The closed-cell structure provides low water absorption while resisting corrosion and decay. Divinycell H also offers very low resin uptake, good chemical resistance, excellent fatigue properties, and good thermal and acoustic insulation. It is compatible with most commonly used adhesives and laminating resin systems, including polyester and epoxy resins.
The plain-sheet configuration provides a solid, unscored core surface that works particularly well for flat and gently contoured sandwich structures. The material can be cut and machined using common woodworking equipment and can also be thermoformed when required for more complex shapes.
Divinycell H-80 is an excellent core choice for boat hulls, decks, floors, bulkheads, hatches, cabin structures, stringers, panels, molds, tooling, transportation components, and general industrial composite structures. It can be processed using common composite manufacturing methods including hand lay-up, vacuum infusion, RTM, and other sandwich-panel fabrication techniques.
